I worked in the Corporate World for thirty years, and ran my own business for the last eight. But like many people during the pandemic, I re-evaluated my working life, and decided it was time to do something that I would really enjoy. I have had a life long love of animals, so I retrained and set up Caring For Pets.
I offer a range of Pet Services including Drop In Visits, Pet Sitting and Dog Walking on a 1 to 1 or 1 household basis. If you are looking for Group/Socialisation Walks, I recommend contacting Jess Ancell at https://www.facebook.com/justine.ancell.9.
I realise that having someone caring for your pets (particularly in your own home) requires a lot of trust, so I offer a free Meet and Greet session before taking on new clients. For dog walking, I also recommend a trial walk with the owner to understand the dog's behaviour on, and if appropriate, off the lead.
For peace of mind, I am fully insured by Cliverton (specialist Pet Care insurers) and have an up to date DBS certificate from the Police. I am also a member of NARPS, the National Register of Pet Sitters and Dog Walkers. I will bring all the relevant documentation and Diplomas to our first meeting, and supply references if requested.
Before starting Caring For Pets, I undertook a Diploma in Pet Sitting and Dog Walking. Since then I have studied for Diplomas in Canine Communication and Pet Psychology. In January 2024, I attended a Pet First Aid Level 2 training course, which is valid for three years. I plan to continue to take courses and refresh my knowledge going forward, as I find animals fascinating and there is so much still to learn.
I am fortunate to have had a pet in my life for over 50 years. Our pets have all been special to us, one of the family. When I am looking after animals in any capacity, they are my number one priority and I do not take the responsibility lightly.
For the last six years, I have worked for the Cinnamon Trust as a Volunteer Dog Walker. The Trust enables elderly and terminally ill people to keep their pets when daily care becomes difficult. Its a wonderful charity for people who would otherwise have to give up their pets at the time when they need them most.
